About AWT

Abroad Way Theatre

Abroad Way Theatre is a project run by a group of talented and experienced artists from ethnic minority backgrounds living in Northern Ireland.

Its aim is to support the process of integration with local community through arts and performance, to spread positive vibes by simply entertaining various audiences and to make a platform for creative and unique artists to come out and have the opportunity to shine.

The Group was established in March 2017.

>> Its first show performed in September at Polish Cultural Week 2017 was a great success.

>> In December 2017 Abroad Way Theatre perfomed in front of a crowd of children with “The Conifer and the Bear’s Skin” a short Christmas play followed by Christmas arts workshops at the Strand Arts Centre.

>> Our next project was “The Tree House” with its premiere at the Strand Arts Centre, which took place on the 26th October 2017.

>> The play was staged multiple times in different venues until March 2019.
In 2020, due to Covid-19 pandemic, we had to postpone all our plans.

>> Finally in September 2020 we introduced our audience to an audiobook (Balladyna by Juliusz Słowacki), which was created as a part of Polish National Reading (Narodowe Czytanie) and is available to listen at our You Tube Channel or to download from our website www.abroadwaytheatre.co.uk
>> After September 2020 we have been planning another surprise for Belfast City for Halloween although due to Covid-19 restrictions we might not be able to perform.

>> But we are not giving up. For 2021 we have planned more audiobooks and also a full well known play – this time we will be performing in Polish, and not only in Northern Ireland. Stay tuned!
